Finding the place

Addresses in Ajman are close to useless and everybody navigates by landmark. So here is the building rather than the postcode.

01 The address Al Khorri Building, Shop No 2, Al Alia, Ajman. We are at street level, not upstairs — you will not need a lift with a carrier in your hand. 02 What to look for 03 The signboard Green and blue, with the falcon and the parrot on it. Visible from the road in both directions. 04 Parking Directly outside the shop. You will not be carrying a crate across a car park.

Six things worth doing before you set off

None of this is required. All of it makes the appointment shorter, calmer and usually cheaper.

Cats in a carrier, not in your arms A car park is the commonest place a cat is lost. If the carrier opens at the top, bring that one — the appointment goes better. Carriers →
Dogs on a short lead Not a retractable one. Waiting rooms hold animals that are frightened, in pain, or both, and sixteen feet of cord is how two of them meet.
The packet, not the name Bring the actual box or bottle of anything your pet is on, food included. Strengths and formulations vary and a photograph of the label settles it in a second.
Any previous records Vaccination card, results from another clinic, the export paperwork if there is any. Even a photograph on your phone saves repeating a test.
A fresh sample, if we asked for one Urine or faeces, collected the same morning and kept cool. Older than that and the result is no longer worth having.
Birds in their own cage where possible Travel in the cage they know, with a cover over it for the journey. A frightened bird in a strange box arrives in worse shape than it left. Bird vet →
