The UAE climate means fleas and ticks never really go away — there is no winter to break the cycle. We treat the pet you have now and set up a schedule so it does not come back.
What we treat
Fleas, ticks and intestinal worms are usually dealt with together, because a pet with one very often has another.
Fleas
Constant scratching, scabs along the back and tail base, black specks in the coat. Most of the population is in your home, not on the pet — which is why treating the animal alone fails.
Ticks
Common on dogs walked anywhere with sand, scrub or other dogs. They carry serious blood-borne disease, so removal needs doing properly — pulling one off at home usually leaves the head behind.
Worms
Round, tape and hook worms. Often invisible until there is weight loss or a pot-bellied puppy. Fleas carry tapeworm, so a flea problem is frequently a worm problem too.
Signs worth acting on
A tick attached for more than a day, sudden weakness, pale gums or collapse is an emergency — call us rather than waiting for an appointment.
How we treat it
Which product suits your pet depends on species, weight, age and whether they swim or get bathed often. That is the part a shop cannot get right for you.
Spot-on treatment
Applied to the skin at the back of the neck. Monthly, simple, works for cats and dogs.
Oral tablets
Chewable, monthly or three-monthly. Best for dogs that swim or are bathed often.
Deworming
Dosed to weight. Puppies and kittens need it far more often than adults.
Treating the home
Bedding, rugs and skirting. Skip this and the fleas come straight back within weeks.
How often
Prevention beats treatment every time, and in this climate it has to run all year. We keep the schedule and remind you when the next dose is due, so it does not quietly lapse.

Questions owners ask
Why did the treatment from the pet shop not work?
Usually one of three reasons: the dose was wrong for the weight, the product does not cover what your pet actually has, or the house was never treated. Vet-grade products are also simply stronger.
Can I use a dog product on my cat?
No. Several common dog flea products contain permethrin, which is toxic to cats and can be fatal. If it has already happened, call us straight away — it is an emergency.
My pet never goes outside — do they still need it?
Yes. Fleas come in on shoes, on visitors and through open doors and balconies, and indoor cats in the UAE get them regularly.
Should I pull a tick off myself?
Better not to. Pulling usually leaves the mouthparts behind, which causes a reaction, and squeezing the body can push infected material into your pet. Bring them in — removal takes minutes.
How soon does it work?
Adult fleas usually die within a day. Eggs already in the house keep hatching for weeks, so the itching can continue a while — that is normal, and why the home matters.
Can fleas or worms pass to people?
Fleas will bite people, usually around the ankles. Some worms can transmit to humans, which is why regular worming matters most in homes with young children.
